Evolving into niche areas such as dermo-cosmetics

Although dermo-cosmetics comprise only about 5% of the global cosmetics market, sales growth ran at 9% in 2007, nearly three times the rate of the rest of the market.

The effects of ageing begin to become visible in the skin beginning in our twenties. The natural ageing process causes biochemical changes in collagen and elastin, the connective tissues that gives skin its firmness and elasticity. As the quantity of collagen in the skin reduces and the skin becomes less elastic, it also becomes drier. With the loss of support from these layers of connective tissues, the skin begins to sag.

The anti-ageing market itself has an estimated worth of $6.9bn, with a growing emphasis on products that have scientific proof of efficacy. Sinclair´s ethos of creating innovative, patented products that have clinically demonstrated efficacy are well suited to this segment. Sinclair aims to deliver high quality beauty treatments such as anti-ageing creams and skin lotions for a wide demographic including a range for ethnic skin. Part of the dermo-cosmetic strategy will be to raise the profile and awareness of our portfolio thus increasing visibility among patients to increase demand.
